ABOUT

 

Awarded a graduate fellowship to Hunter College, Joan Giordano holds an MFA from Pratt Institute where she studied with George McNeil.

Soon after graduating Pratt, Giordano attended the Printmaking Workshop in NYC and continued creating large format lithographs with Bob Blackburn. She continued printmaking at the Art Students League, NY evenings and again at the League's Summer Project Space in Woodstock. 

Joan Giordano lives and works in Manhattan and in upstate New York.
She is represented by June Kelly Gallery, NY.

Joan Giordano has enjoyed more than sixty museum and gallery exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including The National Museum of Art, Santiago, Chile; Museo Del Corso, Florence, Italy; Santa Maria Della Scala, Siena, Italy; Gallery Brocken, Tokyo, Japan; Feminine Dialogue UNESCO, Paris; Art Link Gallery, South Korea; Fiberart International, Pittsburgh, PA; Stevens Institute, NJ; The Holden Fine Arts Center, University of Wisconsin; The Montclair Art Museum, Montclair, NJ; The Knoxville Museum of Art, TN; The Athens School of Fine Arts, Athens, Greece; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Crete.

Solo museum shows include Staten Island Museum, Staten Island, NY; Union Gallery of the State University of NY at Stonybrook, NY; Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, Trenton, NJ; American Museum of Papermaking, Atlanta, GA; and The Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Gardens, North Salem, NY. 

Giordano's solo exhibition and lecture series, Steel Angels, was exhibited at The Danville Museum of Art, VA; The Longview Art Museum, TX; Museum of the Permian Basin, TX; The College of Eastern Utah; and Lamar Dodd Art Center & Museum, GA. The exhibition culminated at Walter Wickiser Gallery in NYC in 1999.  

She was invited to create installations at the First International Women Artists Biennale in Incheon, South Korea; the Sofia Paper Biennial, Bulgaria; and Sosabeol International Art Expo Flame Show, 2011, South Korea.
