Biography copy

Joan Giordano lives and works in Manhattan and in Upstate New York.  Awarded a graduate fellowship to Hunter College, she holds an MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY where she studied with George McNeil.  Giordano worked with Bob Blackburn at the Printmaking Workshop NYC and attended the Art Students League of New York.  She is represented by June Kelly Gallery in NYC.

She was invited to create installations at the First International Women Artists Biennale in Incheon, Korea; the Sofia Paper Biennial, Bulgaria, and Sosabeol International Art Expo Flame Show, 2011, South Korea.  New York solo gallery exhibions include: Walter Wickiser Gallery, Sutton Gallery, Tenri Cultural Institute, NYU Contemporary Art Gallery, Serrano Contemporary,  Rosenthal Gallery @ Queens College,  Union Gallery at Stonybrook SUNY, and June Kelly Gallery, NY.

She is the recipient of several residencies, awards and honors including a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, and residencies at YADDO Foundation, Saratoga Springs, NY; the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sweet Briar, VA; Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY, Awagami Paper International in Tokushima, Japan, and  Conversations In Contemporaneity a residency in Casa Masella, Otronto, Italy.
