The monotypes are based on leaves, pods, brambles and roots. These prints use a variety of approaches, often layered together in a single work. Natural forms are drawn, printed from directly, represented abstractly and combined into new patterns.
Over the past decade, the monotypes have reflected plant life from a number of locations, including the artist's perennial garden in upstate New York. These works employ oil and water resists, with ink, graphite and gouache.
